High Beckside Accommodation

The Main House

A glazed front door leads to an oak-panelled entrance lobby. From here an original studded oak door leads to the ‘down house’ or dairy – now a well-equipped drying room with w/c and ample room for storage of outdoor equipment.

The cosy living/dining area has comfy sofas and an extendable dining table. There is an open fire, exposed oak beams, and a smart TV. Next to the fireplace is an old spice cupboard dated 1707. The lounge also leads into the well-equipped open plan kitchen with Lakeland stone worktops, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher.

The whole house is decorated with touches reflecting the local landscape, with Herdwick wool carpets in the living/dining area. There are woolen rugs and throws throughout the house, and a number of original paintings and prints by local artists hang on the cottage walls.

There are 3 bedrooms in the main part of the house, – one double, one twin and a single. The family bathroom has a large walk-in shower, fully tiled with local Lakeland slate, a w.c. and a wash basin. All of the bedrooms have great views towards Hartsop Dodd.

The Wool Loft

For larger parties or those who just wish to have additional space, the fourth bedroom is an en-suite twin located in the adjoining ‘wool loft’. This is accessed from an external staircase adjacent to the front door, making it ideal for groups of friends. This magnificent ‘away-from-it-all’ en-suite bedroom has exposed beams to the vaulted ceiling and has its own TV. The bathroom is well equipped with a shower, wash basin and w/c.

Outside the wonderful garden surrounds the cottage and offers a tranquil mix of wild areas and lawn, which transforms into a carpet of snowdrops in the spring. Pasture Beck, which gives the cottage its name, runs along the bottom of the garden (well fenced for safety). The garden is a magnet for the local wildlife, including a wide range of birds, as well as badgers and foxes. There is also ample parking for 2 to 3 cars.

Doggie Etiquette

We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs at High Beckside. We respectfully request that dogs be kept downstairs and away from soft furnishings. Please keep dogs under close control when walking locally, especially during lambing season. There is a £15 charge per week per dog.
